Governor Blanton Winship is my cousin?!?
The Winships are showing up as my DNA cousins. Blanton Winship was Governor when the Ponce Massacre occurred, and he is described as the man who quelled the Puerto Rican nationalist movement- how is he related to me? I have no idea! His family is showing up as my 3rd to distant cousins on 23andMe through my mother (allegedly sharing a 3rd great-grandparent). Interesting connection that I will look into deeper to find our common ancestor.
